About Autocrit
AutoCrit is an all-in-one online editing platform designed to help fiction and nonfiction writers plan, write, and polish their manuscripts. It combines a fully-featured writing environment with integrated planning tools and a suite of editing reports that analyze style, structure, pacing, dialogue, and more. The platform aims to reduce revision time and improve storytelling quality by providing actionable feedback based on real-world publishing standards.
What problem does it solve?
Writers often struggle with juggling multiple tools, receiving vague feedback from beta readers, and facing high costs for professional editing. AutoCrit solves this by bringing planning, writing, editing, and formatting into one workspace. It offers automated analysis that highlights issues like overused words, pacing problems, and weak dialogue, allowing writers to self-edit effectively before seeking other services. The integrated planning templates and digital noteboards help keep projects organized from draft to publication.
Who is it for?
AutoCrit is ideal for authors working on novels, short stories, or multi-book series across genres such as fantasy, romance, mystery, science fiction, and more. It also serves nonfiction writers with guided editing for narrative, prescriptive, academic, biography, business, and other genres. It is not for writers seeking a simple word processor or those who prefer a purely intuitive writing experience without detailed analytical feedback.
Real use cases
An author can use AutoCrit to plan a novel with digital noteboards, write chapters in the distraction-free editor, then run the Summary Report to get an AutoCrit Score and genre comparison. They can use line-editing tools to eliminate adverbs, passive voice, and redundancies. Before publishing, they can export formatted ePub or PDF files. The community features also offer workshops, Q&As with authors, and access to courses and services, making it a comprehensive resource for both new and experienced writers.
